Oregon Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

In order to obtain a license in the field of Cosmetology including: Hair Design, Barbering, Esthetics, or Nail Technology in the state of Oregon, individuals must complete the requirements listed below. Other requirements may apply.

Hair Design: 1450 hours
Barber: 1100 hours
Esthetician: 250 hours
Nail Technician: 350 hours

Students are also required to complete 150 hours in Safety/Infection Control and 100 hours of Career Development.

Fee schedule is for all fields. (each field requires a separate certificate)

Application Fee: $15
Exam Fee: $25
Annual Certificate of Identification (CID): $50
Biennial Practitioner Fee: $33 per certificate

Current license qualifies for examination.
If an applicant from out-of-state is currently licensed, there is no need to take the Oregon examination. For more information, please contact The Oregon Health Licensing Agency.
